Emergency Hero is a 24/7 emergency repair specialists platform, connecting customers with vetted local plumbers, electricians, drainage and gas heating engineers nationwide, combining app-based job dispatch, real-time tracking, and a growing engineer network to deliver responsive, reliable emergency support.

Emergency Hero began working with Innovate UK Business Growth Senior Innovation and Growth Specialist Michael Hadfield to accelerate its commercial growth, strengthen its leadership team, and scale its operations nationally.

Since starting the programme, the business has:

  • Grown rapidly, reaching £3.6m turnover in its first year, hitting its Year 2 target a year early.
  • Expanded its team to 18 employees, with key senior hires across marketing, technology, HR, and sales strengthening leadership capacity for long-term scale.
  • Built a national network of over 1,200 engineers, alongside launching a tiered subscription model for both customers and contractors.
  • Strengthened its brand presence, securing national media coverage and award recognition, including being shortlisted for the Northern Tech Awards 2026.

Emergency Hero also worked with GM Business Growth Hub Senior Commercialisation Specialist Russell Mansfield to strengthen its commercialisation strategy and support the development of its AI-enhanced platform. Through a Commercialisation Readiness Plan, innovation project design support and a successful £40,000 grant application, the business was able to progress its growth ambitions while monitoring the impact on revenue, job creation, productivity and technology adoption.
